When Jessica and I were young, a good deal younger. A woman came to see Mom about something that I don't recall. Jess and I were in the barn playing dress up and Mom told us to stay there and not bother her. So we did...somehow the barn door fell down which meant we were locked in the barn and we started screaming and hollering. But of course Mom was in the house and she didn't hear us, so we decided that we would be really clever...Jessica had just learned about S.O.S, so we wrote a letter with big S.O.S letters all over it and threw it out the window hoping that Mom would stumble upon it and run upstairs to rescue us...eventually she did but it took a while. I was sitting here looking at the barn and I don't really understand why we were so scared...We were locked in the upper half of the barn with toys and each other...exactly where we wanted to be, but when we couldn't go anywhere we freaked out...
The barn has a lot of stories I suppose...
-I hit a baseball which busted one of the windows...(I was very, very upset)and then five minutes later I busted it again...(by which time I shrugged, I couldn't make a broken window worse than it already was)
-Jessica and Sarah nearly killed Wilbur's birdfeeder one night when we slept in the barn
-We woke up one morning terrified to see Whiz jump out the window, to his death we assumed, nope. He hopped from the roof to the yard and when we looked outside expecting to see him dead, he was out in the yard doing his business, Boots quickly followed him as I recall
-A family pet died in that barn, the same day Sarah, Jess and I all stayed out in the snow entirely too long and then carried hot chocolate out to our playroom in the top...for what reason I know not because there were no windows left by that time, and even with blankets piled on we were all freezing
There is so much crap in that barn...I think it is about time that we cleaned it out. It is full of all our junk, and the junk of the people before us, and maybe the people before them...It will be interesting I guess to see what all has been left in there besides spiders ;).
