Feb. 7th, 2005 07:46 pmtalking about art and theory in modern temper today. very interesting, discussing the nature of art. is knowledge the abyss between the mundane present and the frightening, grotesque unknown? by it's very nature i think it is...and art? if an artist intends for a painting or a book to bring an immediate reaction that will in some way alter or redefine a person's perspective of life should their art be destroyed before it can become commonplace? before it's another Mona Lisa in a museum that people admire because they think they should? because textbooks tell them that this is truly art? maybe modern art should be akin to the visual image of a howler...(HP ref, lol, how far the mighty have fallen ;) ) an intense visual scream that burns to ash in your hands leaving behind a searing image on your eyelids? it's something to ponder....
jess, did you get ahold of the dentist?
